[Busan] When in Busan, I recommend taking the Haeundae Beach Train (or Haeundae Sky Capsule), which offers a scenic ride along Busan’s coastline.
Connecting Haeundae Beach to Songjeong Beach with panoramic ocean views, it is a charming way to explore Busan’s coastal beauty while enjoying a leisurely journey.
That was how I managed to chance upon Old Mug 올드머그 found in the scenic seaside village of Songjeong.
The Beach Train travels along the coast and makes several stops, including Cheongsapo Station and Songjeong Station.
You may want to stay on the train until you reach Songjeong Station, which is closest to Old Mug. The journey is scenic and takes about 20 to 25 minutes from Mipo to Songjeong,
Walking into Old Mug felt like stepping into a hidden corner of a European village, something I hadn’t expected.
The first thing I noticed is its enchanting façade, a blend of wooden elements and leafy green surroundings. Almost feels like you are in a fairytale book.
The atmosphere is calm, warm, and bathed in natural light pouring in through large windows.
Seating is spread out across multiple areas, including an outdoor terrace with uninterrupted views of the sea. It offers a charming spot to sit back, sip on a hot drink, and feel the salty sea breeze.
Pastries here, while limited in selection, are baked fresh daily.
Highlights include the adorable All Meok Bao Cheesecake (8,500 Won), a cute, bear-shaped treat that is eye-catching.
Other sweet options feature the Strawberry Tart (9,000 Won), Royal Chocolate Tart (9,000 Won), Blueberry Tart (9,000 Won) and the creamy Tiramisu Tart (9,000 Won).
There are also simpler options like Salt Bread (3,000 Won) and Garlic Baguette (6,300 Won) catering to those preferring savoury bites.
Coffee options include the straightforward Espresso (6,000 Won), Americano (6,000 Won), Cafe Latte (6,500 Won), and Cappuccino (6,500 Won, hot only).
For those with a preference for flavoured lattes, the Vanilla Latte, Cafe Mocha, and Caramel Macchiato each come at 7,000 Won.
The café’s signature drinks add a twist, featuring options like Black Sugar Latte, Cinnamon Cream Latte, and Einspanner (all 7,500 Won and served only iced).
Service at Old Mug is self-directed, with kiosks for ordering, allowing patrons to browse the menu at their own pace.
All in all, Old Mug’s charm lies in its blend of nature, coffee, and a thoughtful, rustic setting. A small escape into a place that feels timeless.
