[Busan] Gamcheon Culture Village, often referred to as the “Machu Picchu of Busan“, is renowned for its brightly colored, terraced houses and narrow winding alleys.
I find the place charming, and would recommend a visit to check out its picturesque landscape, murals, and sculptures.
If you are looking for a vantage point to take some photos, Cafe Avant Garde 카페 아방가르드 is one of the spots.
It offers a panorama that commands views of both the vibrant village and the sea.
Cafe Avant Garde is conveniently located just behind the Gamjeong Elementary School bus stop, making it easily accessible.
The café itself is spacious, avoiding the crowded feel that can sometimes dampen the café experience.
The interior is decorated with a collection of books, Legos, and other intriguing toys and items.
A variety of drinks including smoothies, coffee, tea, beer, and cocktails are available, complemented by simple snacks such as macarons and bread.
Espresso drinks like Americano (4,500 Won) and Cappuccino (5,000 Won) are staple offerings, alongside soft drinks such as Lemonade and Orange Juice (5,000 Won each).
For those preferring a creamier indulgence, there’s a selection of smoothies and blends including a Strawberry Smoothie and Mango Smoothie (6,500 Won each).
However, it’s worth noting that while the café scores high on location and ambiance, the service can sometimes detract from the overall experience.
Online reviews have noted that the service might not always meet expectations, occasionally lacking in promptness and attentiveness. I also thought that the service wasn’t exceptionally courteous, just straightforward.
The expansive outdoor seating area is a highlight, offering a serene spot to take in the picturesque views of Gamcheon Culture Village.
