Chamoon Hot Pot or 享月汤皇 (Xiangyue Tanghuang) is a well-established restaurant brand in China, known for its health-conscious approach to hot pot dining.
With over 30 branches across China, it has finally opened in Singapore at Scotts Square.
So what’s the difference between Chamoon and other hot pot brands, you may ask.
This broth forms the foundation of their “health preservation” concept, offering specialty ‘Matsutake Hotpot’, alongside fresh, quality ingredients.
The broths are served in individual portions.
Also, it is reputed for its serene dining atmosphere that appeals to both families and business gatherings.
Upon visiting Chamoon Hot Pot, the experience starts with an impressive dining environment.
The interior is generally calm, with large tables and private rooms available, creating an ideal setting for both casual get-togethers and formal dinners.
Staff members are polite and helpful, often providing recommendations on the best way to enjoy the dishes.
As for the food, their signature broth, each served as individual portion, is definitely a highlight.
You can pick from the signature Truffle Based Matsutake Mushroom, Beauty-Enhancing Papaya Tomato, Singapore-exclusive Mala, True Morel Mushrooms, Bamboo Fungus, and Cordyceps Mushroom.
Here’s more:
Signature Truffle Based Matsutake Mushroom Hot Pot 松茸菌王锅 ($9.90)
This is perhaps one of Chamoon Hot Pot’s most well-known and luxurious soup bases.
The use of truffles gives the broth an earthy depth, while the matsutake mushrooms known for their delicate and fragrant aroma, add a layer of umami.
You would find this broth light but still flavourful.
If you prefer subtle, refined flavours without heavy oils or excessive spices, this is an ideal base.
The broth pairs well with fresh seafood, organic vegetables, and delicate meats like Hokkaido Iberico Pork, Japanese and Australian Wagyu.
Tomato Papaya Hot Pot 养颜木瓜番茄锅 ($9.90)
This broth is light and refreshing, with the tomato providing a gentle tang, while the papaya contributes a natural sweetness.
Accordingly, the tomatoes are further fried for a layer of fragrance.
A flavour-packed soup base that I feel pairs well with both seafood and lean cuts of meat.
Singapore-exclusive Spicy Mala Hot Pot 麻辣清油锅 ($9.90)
For spice lovers, the Singapore-exclusive Spicy Mala Hot Pot is a must order.
This broth is based on the traditional Sichuan mala (numbing and spicy) flavours, but it was not as mouth-numbing as I initially expected.
Unlike many mala broths that can be oil-heavy, this version is moderately spicy, not overwhelmingly greasy and therefore still quite drinkable.
An intense base that goes well with heartier ingredients like beef, lamb, and tofu, as well as vegetables that soak up the heat.
A4 Japanese Wagyu A4日本和牛 (from $86.00)
Moving on to the ingredients, the A4 Japanese Wagyu known for its marbling and melt-in-your-mouth quality, is thinly sliced.
When dipped into the broth for just a few seconds, the fat melts away, leaving behind tender and juicy meat.
For me, it’s a bit of an indulgence, but one that’s well worth it if you enjoy premium cuts of beef.
Japanese Kurobuta Pork 日本黑豚猪肉 ($35.00)
Known for its tenderness and slightly sweet flavour, this pork is recommended when cooked in lighter broths like the tomato-papaya base.
The meat has a wonderful balance of lean and fat, which makes it tender without being too greasy.
Tiger Prawns 老虎虾 ($14.80)
These prawns are large, succulent, and incredibly fresh, offering a natural sweetness that shines through when cooked in the lighter broths.
What I particularly appreciate about this dish is the freshness – there’s nothing better than prawn meat on sticks that almost bounces back when you bite into it.
They pair well with the restaurant’s house-made dipping sauces.
Live Abalone 5 Head 鲜活鲍鱼5头 ($29.00)
The abalone is almost chewy but still tender, and offers a subtly briny flavour that’s unlike any other shellfish.
It is the kind of dish you would order when you’re looking to celebrate or indulge a bit more than usual.
Grouper 石斑鱼 ($13.80 per 100g)
What stands out is the firmness and tenderness. When cooked in the signature broths (like the truffle-based mushroom hot pot), the fish soaks up the flavours of the broth without losing its own delicate taste.
Matsutake Mushroom Dumplings 松茸水饺 ($12.80)
The dumpling wrapper is delicate, allowing the plump fillings to take centre stage.
When I took a bite, I was surprised how juicy the inside was.
Best paired with a light dipping sauce, enjoy the dumplings for the lightness of the wrapper and the succulence of the mushroom filling.
Truffle Fried Rice 特色松茸炒饭 ($22 for small, $32 for large)
The truffle flavour is prominent but not overpowering, allowing the other ingredients to shine through.
While it could be slightly on the oilier side, it’s the kind of dish that is good for sharing – feels indulgent yet not too heavy.
Overall, Chamoon Hot Pot does offer a refined, health-focused hot pot dining experience. A choice for those looking to enjoy flavourful individual soups and quality ingredients in a calm setting/
