[Seoul] Green Mile Coffee 그린마일커피 in Bukchon 북촌 is a Seoul cafe that I have bookmarked some time back, but I always get sidetracked by other more social-media-prominent places.
It does offer an experience that feels refreshingly calming.
When I first walked in, the warm, wooden tones of the space immediately set a relaxing mood.
The décor feels thoughtful – plants are placed around the café, adding an inviting sense of nature.
There is also some sunlight streaming through the large windows, that creates an almost therapeutic atmosphere.
It is a place where time seems to slow down.
The rooftop, however, is what truly elevates this café above many others. More on that later.
If you are heading for coffee options include Espresso (5,000 Won), Americano (5,500 Won), Latte (6,000 Won), Flat White (5,500 Won), Green Ailee Latte (6,500 Won), Coconut Latte (6,500 Won), Vanilla Latte (6,500 Won), and Ice Cream Latte (7,000 Won).
Non-coffee selections feature Milk Tea (6,000 Won), Strawberry Latte (6,000 Won), Choco Latte (6,000 Won), and Green Tea Latte (6,000 Won).
As for refreshing sodas, there are Appleberry Soda (6,000 Won) and Citron Soda (6,000 Won).
If you would like something sweet, there is a small selection such as Handmade Tiramisu (10,000 Won), Affogato (7,000 Won), and Handmade Cookies (3,000 Won) – which was what I had.
After grabbing my Americano (smooth finish without overwhelming acidity), I took it upstairs.
The view from the top was breathtaking.
The juxtaposition of Seoul’s bustling city life with the serene hanok rooftops spread below was something special.
There is something about sipping coffee in such a peaceful, traditional setting that makes you forget the fast pace of the world outside.
Even with other patrons around, the café maintained a quiet, almost meditative vibe.
Whether you are coming to take in the views, enjoy a well-crafted coffee, or escape from the city for a little while, Green Mile Coffee is a simple place that offers all of this.
