[Ipoh] Être Patisserie in Ipoh offers a quaint, French-inspired patisserie experience that brings a slice of Paris to Malaysia.
Located in Taman Canning, the atmosphere is serene, with soft light bouncing off the white-and-gold décor.
It does set a calming tone for a leisurely afternoon.
The patisserie is celebrated for its selection of exquisitely crafted French pastries.
Chef Ann, the mastermind behind Être Patisserie, has a background in Michelin-starred kitchens, and her expertise shows in the precision and artistry of the offerings.
Items on display include the classic Croissant (RM9.50), Cinnamon Roll (RM9.50), Chicken Slice & Cheese with Gruyère Cheese (RM16), and Four Cheese (RM12).
For something more indulgent, there’s the Truffle Bar with chocolate and brownie (RM15) and the Pain Au Chocolat (RM13).
Savoury options include the Rendang Pie (RM13), Smoked Duck Quiche (RM16), and the French Egg Tart (RM12).
I decided to go for the Shine Muscat Grape Shortcake (RM21), as I wanted to go for something light.
Shine Muscat grapes themselves are renowned for their high sugar content and firm texture, and in this shortcake, they are complemented by soft sponge layers and fluffy cream.
The cake feels airy, with the muscat grapes adding bursts of freshness in each bite.
Those with a penchant for more decadent desserts may gravitate towards their rich chocolate-based pastries or pralines, which showcase indulgent flavours.
While the desserts are visually stunning and meticulously prepared, a few online reviews have remarked that the pricing leans towards the higher side, with some pastries being a little too small for their cost.
The patisserie’s dedication to delivering authentic French pastry has earned it a loyal following.
It is a spot to unwind with a cup of coffee and indulge in some of the finest pastries Ipoh has to offer.
